Delivering Digital Citizenship Information
Audience Target - Students, Teachers, and Administrators -
Oakland Middle School is fortunate enough to have a specific time scheduled each day for Social and Emotional Learning. This class time is either before or after lunch for each grade level. During this time, teachers are given prepared lessons on social and emotional issues. OMS has a team of teachers who create these lessons. Each lesson "packet" lasts for one week. These school-wide lessons include topics such as Caring, Gratitude, Kindness, Positivism, Empathy, etc.
During the Spring Semester, we will be focusing a week on Digital Citizenship and I will work with the teacher team to prepare the week's lessons. This will ensure that all students in the building will be getting the same information and it will put the teacher in the pilot's seat for encouraging digital citizenship in their classrooms.
Audience Target - Parents
In January, I will begin posting digital resources to parents on the OMS web page. I also make it a practice to have a Digital Citizenship Table in the main corridor of the school during all open house type events.
***In addition, I have a spring semester goal of becoming a Common Sense Educator as well as OMS becoming a Common Sense School!
